I've been using several many different rackets throughout out the years, but my racket of choice is Head Graphene Prestige Pro.
The Head Graphene Prestige Pro is consider an more control-oriented advanced player's racket. Most recreational players prefer to use a lighter racket with a blend of power and control, these are call "tweener" rackets. The Prestige Pro is a heavier racket weighing at 11.7 oz so it is a lot heavier compare to most frames. In exchange, the racket will give more plow through, which will help generate a heavy ball.
Not only my racket is heavy, it also has a thinner beam compare to tweener rackets. Thinner beams allows for more flex on the head of the racket which gives more control since power is being absorb through the flex of the racket. The flex on the racket also helps with less vibration on the racket, giving a soft, plush feel when hitting the ball.
My racket also has a 98 sq. in head size, which allows for more control of direction of where I'm hitting the ball. The tradeoff is the chances of mishitting the center of the string bed is higher than other rackets.
Pretty much the reason why I switched to this racket is for it's control-oriented and soft feel when making contact with the ball. When I play with this racket, I know for sure where the ball will be going and I can hit the ball harder while keeping the ball in play.
If you got any questions about my racket, what type of racket you should try out or use, or tennis in general, leave a comment down below.
If you use a lot of spin, should get a racket that gives you more spin or power?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest either get a racket with a blend of both spin and power.
DeleteFast racket head acceleration is what causes players to generate lots of spin. Hitting a lot of spin doesn't necessary mean you hit with a lot of power since too much spin can cause the ball to land short on the court and can be easy sitter for your opponents to win the point.
What I recommend is a power racket such as Doug's Babolat AeroPro Drive (Play) since it gives you the blend of power while being very spin friendly. Hope this helps.
